Interview

Olivia, what was the inspiration behind your transition from teaching to writing novels?

Writing has always been my secret passion. Teaching languages allowed me to explore the beauty of words and cultures. Now, through my novels, I can create worlds that reflect this richness and nuance.

Your works are often rooted in real events. How does this blend of reality and fiction enrich your novels?

For me, incorporating real-life elements lends depth and authenticity to my stories. It allows readers to find an echo of their own reality in my novels, creating a deeper connection with the characters and their journeys.

How would you describe your writing style and how it has evolved since you started?

My style is narrative and descriptive. I like to bring scenes and emotions to life. Over time, I’ve learned to balance detail with action to keep the reader engaged throughout the story.

What are your literary influences, and how do they manifest themselves in your writing?

Spanish and French literature, with their rich traditions of storytelling, have always fascinated me. You’ll find echoes of this influence in my work, both in the complexity of the characters and the richness of the settings.

What are your favorite books and why?

“Love in the Time of Cholera” by Gabriel García Márquez

This book influenced my love for timeless romantic tales and the depth of human relationships.

“Madame Bovary” by Gustave Flaubert

Flaubert taught me the importance of detail in building a credible literary universe.

Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”

Jane Austen was a revelation in the art of blending social interaction with subtle romance.
